LT100 DreamChasers
The DreamChaser campaign is our biggest fundraising effort of the summer race season. And it is only possible through the herculean efforts of two incredible local athletes, Jeff Spencer and Rodrigo Jimenez. And a whole bunch of supporters like you!
So how does it work?...
In a selfless and impressive feat, these two athletes start their LT100 Run and Bike in very last place. Then they DIG DEEP all day to pass as many athletes as possible, to raise money and awareness for the LT100 Legacy Foundation.
Donations come from athletes and supporters just like you, who pledge an amount per person passed, or a flat donation to support their efforts.
In the past 9 years, the DreamChaser initiative has helped us raise over $972,000 through their sacrifice and your support.

WELCOME TO THE TEAM!
We want to give a huge thank you to Cycles of Life, our local bike shop, for sponsoring Jeff’s DreamChaser efforts with an amazing new bike!
Meet Jeff Spencer - LT100 MTB Dream Chaser
Our newest LT100 DreamChaser, Jeff Spencer, has called Leadville home for the past 16 years. While he hails from Michigan, he is now deeply rooted in the local Leadville community as both an educator and coach. With 18 years of high school teaching under his belt, he’s also spent over a decade coaching Nordic skiing and is about to kick off his second season as coach of the local high school mountain biking team.
Jeff’s connection to the Leadville Trail 100 MTB runs deep. He first completed the race in 2012 as part of the Leadman Challenge, finishing in 8 hours and 48 minutes. He then took on the course on a tandem bike in 2015 and 2016, and most recently rode to a strong 8:36 finish in 2024. Now stepping into the role of DreamChaser, Jeff aims to surpass his previous race time while inspiring every rider on course to chase down their own finish line goals. His personal target for 2025, a sub-8:30 finish time!
With his wife (and fellow teacher) Amanda serving as his number one supporter, Jeff is proud to have the opportunity to raise money for the LT100 Legacy Foundation and directly support his students through the Trail 100 Scholarship funding they are eligible for when they graduate from Lake County High School!
RETURNING FOR THE 5TH TIME
Rodrigo Jimenez - LT100 RUN DreamChaser
2021 was the inaugural year for a new DreamChaser to show us what was possible in the LT100 Run. As a 9 time finisher of the LT100 Run and 8 time Lead Challenge competitor, local Leadville stone mason, Rodrigo Jimenez, was just the guy to do it.
Rodrigo decided he wanted to try this ‘back of the pack’ challenge to help the Legacy Foundation. And to add a little more pressure, he didn’t just start last - he decided to start his race at sunup - 2½ hours after all the other runners start the race.
A serious bike accident in June 2022 put his Dream Chaser plans in jeopardy, but in true Rodrigo style, he didn’t let a collapsed lung or a few broken ribs stop him. And he credits much of his racing success to his wife Gloria and sons Eddy, Fabian, and Alexander, who not only support him through all his training, but who are out there as his crew on race day.
Rodrigo’s Dream Chaser Stats Through The Years:
2021: 660 racers passed (finished 6th overall chip time) = $87,802 raised
2022: 657 racers passed = $59,040 raised
2023: 740 racers passed = $133,418 raised
2024: 700 racers passed = $83,435 raised
Thank you to our original DreamChaser, Ty, for 9 incredible years!
After nine unforgettable years as the original LT100 MTB DreamChaser, Ty Hall is officially hanging up his bib. Since stepping into this role back in 2015, Ty has passed a staggering 12,660 athletes on course - each one pushing toward their own finish line, inspired by his grit and encouragement.
Thanks to Ty’s efforts and the generosity of Leadville Race Series athletes and their supporters, he’s helped raise over $609,083 for The Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Foundation. His dedication has left a lasting impact, not just on race day but on the entire Leadville & Lake County community.
We’re beyond grateful for everything Ty has given to this race, this town, and this mission. Thank you Ty!!
