LT100 DreamChasers
The DreamChaser campaign is our biggest fundraiser of the summer race season, and it only happens because of the dedication of two incredible local athletes, Jeff Spencer (MTB) and Pat Cade (Run), and the amazing support from people like you!
So how does it work?
In a selfless and impressive feat, The DreamChasers start their LT100 MTB and Run in very last place. Then they DIG DEEP all day to pass as many athletes as possible, to raise money and awareness for the LT100 Legacy Foundation.
Support comes from athletes, crew members, and fans who choose to either pledge an amount for every runner or rider passed or make a one-time donation in support of their journey.
In the past 10 years, the DreamChaser initiative has helped us raise over $1,200,000 through their sacrifice and your support.

He’s back for the second year!
We want to give a huge thank you to Cycles of Life, our local bike shop, for sponsoring Jeff’s DreamChaser efforts with an amazing new bike!
Introducing…Pat Cade
The NEW LT100 Run DreamChaser
Pat is a six-time finisher of the Leadville Trail 100 Run, including a 4th-place overall finish in 2025. But around Leadville, he’s known for much more than his race results. As a coach and teacher at Lake County High School, Pat spends his days mentoring and encouraging local students both on and off the trails.
Pat and his wife, Lindsey, intentionally chose Leadville after years of traveling the world because they wanted to build a life in a small community where they could make a difference.
That commitment to community is what made Pat a natural fit for the DreamChaser role.
As the LT100 Run DreamChaser, Pat will start the race 2.5 hours behind the rest of the field, chasing runners across 100 miles of Leadville’s toughest terrain. Supporters pledge donations based on how many runners he passes, turning every mile, every climb, and every pass into direct support for local students and the Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Foundation scholarship program.
“The kids mean a lot to me because they are the future. And they are our community.”
For years, Pat’s athletes have shown up before sunrise to cheer him on at the start line and run him into the finish. This year, he gets the opportunity to give back to the community that has supported him every step of the way.
Jeff Spencer - LT100 MTB Dream Chaser
Jeff Spencer is back for his second year as the LT100 MTB DreamChaser. After an incredible 2025 debut, he’s returning to the start line with even more purpose.
Jeff has called Leadville home for the past 16 years. Originally from Michigan, he’s become a steady presence in the community as both an educator and coach. With 18 years of high school teaching experience, he’s spent over a decade coaching Nordic skiing and is heading into his second season leading the local high school mountain biking team.
His connection to the Leadville Trail 100 MTB runs deep. He first completed the race in 2012 as part of the Leadman Challenge, finishing in 8:48. He returned on a tandem in 2015 and 2016, and then rode a solo 8:36 in 2024.
In his first year as DreamChaser, Jeff delivered in a big way! Starting from the back of the pack, he passed 1,585 riders, crossed the line in 8:15:45 (chip time), and raised over $142,000 for the Legacy Foundation.
Now in year two, Jeff is building on that momentum. With his wife, Amanda, a fellow educator, by his side, he’s once again racing to support the Trail 100 Scholarship and the students he works with every day.
Thank you to our original DreamChaser, Ty, for 9 incredible years!

Thank You, Rodrigo Jimemez - The First LT100 RUN DreamChaser
Starting back in 2021, Rodrigo Jimenez helped define what the DreamChaser program could be for the Leadville Trail 100 Run.
A 9-time finisher of the race and 8-time Lead Challenge competitor, Rodrigo stepped into the inaugural DreamChaser role with a simple goal: give back to the Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Foundation and show what’s possible from the back of the pack.
And he didn’t make it easy on himself. Rodrigo chose to start his race at sunup, more than two and a half hours after the field, chasing down runners all day long.
Over five years, he turned that idea into something truly special.
Rodrigo’s DreamChaser impact:
2021: 660 runners passed (6th overall chip time) | $87,802 raised
2022: 657 runners passed | $59,049 raised
2023: 740 runners passed | $133,418 raised
2024: 700 runners passed | $83,435 raised
2025: 603 runners passed | $84,938 raised
As Rodrigo retires from his DreamChaser role, we just want to say a huge THANK YOU!
Thank you for setting the bar.
Thank you for showing what heart, consistency, and community look like.
And thank you for the lasting impact you’ve made on this program, this race, and on Leadville.
