Gone But Not Forgotten...

“We Love Leadville”

Over the past few years a small but dedicated group of Leadville’s finest have been working to create a tribute to the iconic “We Love Leadville” wall.    The original sign was removed back in 2017, to allow for a new development at the old rail yard site.  The Tribute Planning Committee worked hard to raise funds and share opportunities for community input on the design and location for the new version.

It was obvious that the new sign could be more than just a replacement. It could further serve as a tribute to the “We Love Leadville” message, and create another opportunity to highlight Leadville’s unique status as the highest elevation city in North America.

What more the new location could provide a greater purpose for the small pocket park marking the northern entry point into Leadville and offer the landmark art piece a spot to welcome visitors with a nice place to stop.

The goal of the Legacy Foundation has always been to support the needs of Leadville and ensure that this remains a great place to live, work and raise a family.  We are thrilled to support the work of the “We Love Leadville” Tribute Committee with a Legacy Grant in support of the next phase of the project, with funds going toward the Solar Lighting!
